Most of these images are stills from Channel 4 TV show ‘Big Fat Gypsy Weddings’ the images above show wedding dresses, communion dresses, bridesmaid dresses, sweet 16 party dresses and everday outfits which are popular among modern gypsy/traveller women in the U.K and Ireland.
Gives a whole new meaning to ‘princess dress’ doesn’t it?

I hate to admit it but I always watch these show because I can not believe how they are dressed. Also the fact that they constantly fight and the way they dance is shocking haha
I call that show ‘white trash people blame their terrible ways on their heritage’
Are these people real Gypsies? Or are they simply nomads? It all seems very fake to me, but that’s what reality-TV is all about. Many of the above pictures look more like a Barbie theme wedding–check out that pink van!
Real Gyspies (Romani and their descendants) still exist in today’s world. And they still dress like the lady in the first picture (perhaps with some concessions to modern attire). Watch out for those tarot cards!

I find it really funny, espesh the polystyrene cakes so that they can have the biggest one! It’s all about being the biggest wedding x
I knowww. Haha. I love that they constantly say things like “People judge us because we’re different, etc.” and I’m thinking “No girl, people judge you because you act classless and ghetto when you wear a one inch dress, booty shorts and get into a fight in the grocery store with your cousin.”
I haven’t seen the one with cousins fighting, I know what you mean, but clearly to them it isn’t classless or tacky and although it’s hard to believe from the way they dress, the girls are still very sheltered, only be with one man etc. The thing that gets me is that most of the girls don’t want a better life or an education, it’s like their culture has brainwashed them, and don’t get me started about ‘grabbing’. I wonder what we would think if we were born into it? I like to believe that I wouldn’t wear any of those neon scraps but who knows?
Yeah I totally agree. Their culture does keep them super sheltered and naive about life. I don’t know how I would be in that situation; it’s tough to say.
I guess we can just be glad that we weren’t born in to it – no mouthfulls of polystyrene cake for us
